Nautical Facts

I was trained for my boatmaster and coastal yachtmaster certificates at Hawkes Bay Community College by a retired harbour master. He was a font of useless knowledge.

Useless fact of the day: There is only one rope on a ship.

All the rest are lines, warps, halyards, lanyards and sheets.

Where would you find the one and only rope?
